Frequently Asked Questions
At its core, the teardrop trailer design is driven by a need for true adventuring capability without sacrificing the amenities you should expect in a traditional travel trailer while simultaneously expanding on many of these amenities. Alternatively, if a relaxed camping style is more your speed, a teardrop is made to enrich this experience as well through exceptional efficiency, safety, and ease of use. So let’s get into how this is achieved and outline the many benefits that the teardrop design brings.
The first and main step of this design goal is to actually solve two very overlooked problems seen in traditional travel trailers, which are having the entire kitchen and bathroom inside the cramped interior. Most people who have been inside a travel trailer bathroom and kitchen know just how uncomfortable they can be, in addition to the trapped condensation and smells from using the toilet and cooking greasy camp food every day.
Instead, the teardrop design relocates the kitchen and bathroom from the inside and puts them both on the outside of the trailer in the form of a galley kitchen, and in our case, the fully integrated swing-out bathroom enclosure. The result is an adventure-ready trailer with a smaller footprint and significantly lighter weight (1800 lbs) for the best towing experience and off-road capability, without the removal of anything you or the family would need.
These weight savings are even further enhanced with our completely unique use of recycled fiberglass composite to construct the trailer’s body, which contains over 6000 recycled bottles. In fact, the kitchen and bathroom within our flagship teardrop model, The Diamondback, not only outclass all other teardrop trailers but also many stand-up traditional travel trailers that are well above its size and weight rating. This is thanks to the massive amount of available countertop space within our kitchen, coming in at just over 20 sqft, as well as the enormous 42″ x 42″ x 84″ bathroom enclosure. For reference, the average countertop space seen inside a traditional travel trailer is typically 11 sqft, while the showering area is around 30″ x 30″ x 72″. These averages, in reference to other teardrop trailers, are 7 sqft for the countertop and typically no bathroom area whatsoever.
Another huge advantage of the weight (1800 lbs) is being able to tow a teardrop trailer with your existing vehicle and not needing to upgrade to tow thousands of pounds. Still being able to fit and sustain the entire family is also an imperative function of the teardrop design, and ironically, the smaller footprint is exactly what allows this to happen. Because of the lower height, you’re able to integrate nearly any rooftop tent you may already own onto the trailer through our Adventure Rack or add on the rooftop tent we offer from our partners at Overland Vehicle Systems, so you can fit up to three more adults or four more children in addition to the main trailer cabin, which is ready to sleep two adults.
These facts alone clearly illustrate the impact that the teardrop design has, but not all teardrops are created equal… As it’s the combination of the teardrop trailer platform and The Diamondback’s own innovative designs and features that elevate it to a level beyond the rest of the industry.

The Diamondback is constructed with Fiberglass rPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate), which is bonded together in-house to create a leak proof, lightweight, and extremely durable body design. All cabinetry is A1 Premium Birch. The body is then sprayed in-house with your chosen color of Raptor coating, giving it a beautiful textured finish that’s ready to withstand the elements. With Fiberglass rPET, you never have to worry about rotting and decay, which extends the life of the Diamondback nearly double that of a traditional wood trailer.
While condensation is inevitable in any small trailer, we recommend ventilating your trailer year round. Proper ventilation is achieved by slightly or fully opening at least one of the four windows within the trailer as well as running the included Maxx Air Fan or the optional Fresair air conditioner, to achieve maximum airflow.
The R-Value is 15-20, making it extremely easy to keep the cabin either warm or cool, depending on the time of year.
All trailers are equipped standard with a RELiON 240Ah Lithium Ion Insight Battery. The battery features low temp technology to better handle cold climates and the option to double your battery bank to 480Ah is available. Yes, all trailers are equipped standard with Electric Trailer Brakes and a wireless braking system for those without brake wiring already established to their 7-pin connection. If your tow vehicle already has trailer brakes wired into its 7-pin, the wireless braking system is removed and $300 will be deducted from your order total.

The Max Coupler will allow your trailer to go places it has never been! The tri-axis design allows the trailer to follow along on any trail you decide to travel. Sometimes referred to as the “silent hitch”, it isolates any shockload with a polyurethane bushing made by Energy Suspension. The tight tolerances do not allow any build up of inertia to crash into the back of the tow vehicle and makes it feel as though it is one unit instead of a vehicle with a trailer. It makes it easy to forget you are towing something and enjoy the scenery!
Yes, see the trailer builder for color choices.
We offer a military discount of $600.
The first step in our ordering process begins with building your trailer on the order page. Further instructions can be seen there.
At this time we do not keep inventory of our trailers for immediate sale. All trailers are made to order and custom built.
Direct financing through our company is not available, however we can easily connect any of our customers with an RV/trailer focused financing group.
We highly recommend picking up your trailer from our shop in Pennsylvania, where our team will give you a thorough walkthrough of your unit, but if that’s not possible we can arrange third party shipment. Your trailer is loaded onto a flatbed, secured, and sent directly to you. Shipping a trailer comes with risk of rock chips or other damage in transit, which we are not responsible for. There is a $250 charge for our prep and materials, as well as the cost of shipping which will be paid directly to our preferred shipping company. Pricing for shipping is dependent on a multitude of factors such as time of year, travel route, and overall distance. The average domestic shipment of one of our trailers ranges from $2000-3500. This is another reason we highly recommend for our customers to come visit and pick up their trailer if at all possible, and then immediately start your new adventure on your way home!
All deposits are non-refundable except for the initial $500 reservation deposit. If extenuating circumstances arise, contact us directly and we will work with you to come to an amicable solution for both parties.
We request a +/- 2 month forgiveness from our customers. As a result, it’s highly recommended that customers not make concrete plans for using their trailer with months still to go in the queue. We do our best to communicate frequently, but if you’re ever in need of an update, please just reach out and see how we’re tracking against our planned schedule.
Almost all auto insurance liability coverage plans will include Travel Trailers when towed by the insured vehicle. We highly recommend extending this coverage for more protection if you are able. Talk with your insurance agent to find out how to properly add a travel trailer to your plan, and decide which coverage works best for you. Proof of insurance is almost always needed when registering your trailer in your home-state.
In order to register your brand new trailer, we give you 3 of the 4 necessary items that you must bring to your home-state DMV to procure a title and license plate. These items include: a signed bill of sale, the trailer MCO (Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin), and the trailer itself. The trailer needs to be present at the DMV to complete a VIN verification. The 4th item, that we do not provide, is your proof of insurance. Proof of insurance is state dependent, so call your local DMV ahead of time to confirm if you will need it. Your state’s sales tax will be paid during the registration process.
We offer a yearly maintenance schedule included in our manual.
We are located in Schnecksville Pennsylvania.
